Setting up the BMC Controller network connection through the UEFI

After you start the server, you can use the UEFI to configure the BMC Controller network connection. The server with the BMC Controller must be connected to a DHCP server, or the server network must be configured to use the BMC Controller static IP address. To set up the BMC Controller network connection through the UEFI, complete the following steps:

  1. Turn on the server and boot into the UEFI setup menu.
    Note
It may take up to 40 seconds after the server is connected to AC power for the power-control button to become active.
  2. Select Server Management; then, select BMC network configuration.
  3. There are four BMC Controller network connection options in the Configuration Address source field:
    • Unspecified (Default)
    • Static
    • DynamicBmcDhcp
    • DynamicBmcNonDhcp
  4. Select one of the network connection options.
  5. If you choose to use a static IP address, you must specify the IP address, the subnet mask, and the default gateway.
  6. Click Save.
Note
You must wait approximately 1 minute for changes to take effect before the server firmware is functional again.
