Backing up and restoring data on a Nutanix host
When running XClarity One on premises, you might need to restore system data, settings, and imported files from a backup. Several alternatives are available to backup and restore an XClarity One that is running on a Nutanix host. The specific process to use to restore from a backup are typically based on the process that was used to create the backup. This topic discusses how to backup and restore using Nutanix Prism Element.
Backing up XClarity One
To create a backup of XClarity One using Nutanix Prism Element, complete the following steps.
Log in to the Prism Element web console.
Go to the Data Protection dashboard, click + Protection Domain, and select Async DR.
Enter a name for the protection domain, and click Create.
Select the VM in the VMs list, and click Protect to add it to the protection domain.
Click New Schedule to configure the snapshot frequency and local retention.
Set the backup start time and replication target if offsite storage is used.
Click Create Schedule to save the policy.
Monitor the protection domain under the Table tab to verify that snapshots are successfully created.
Restoring XClarity One
To restore XClarity One using the backup that was created in the previous procedure, complete the following steps.
Log in to the Prism Element web console, and go to the Data Protection dashboard.
Select the protection domain containing the VM, and click the Local Snapshots tab in the bottom pane.
Select the desired snapshot from the list, and click Restore.
Specify whether to overwrite the existing VM or restore it as a new VM.
If restoring as a new VM, enter a new name for the VM and verify the virtual network mapping.
Click Save to initiate the restore process.
Go to the VM dashboard page.
Select the restored VM in the navigation list, and click Power On.
