Install a GPU

Use this information to install the GPU.

About this task

Attention
  • Read Installation Guidelines and Safety inspection checklist to ensure that you work safely.

  • Turn off the corresponding DWC tray that you are going to perform the task on.

  • Disconnect all external cables from the enclosure.

  • Use extra force to disconnect QSFP cables if they are connected to the solution.

Firmware and driver download: You might need to update the firmware or driver after replacing a component.

Procedure

  1. Make preparations for this task.
    1. Remove the tray cover. See Remove the tray cover.
    2. Remove the cross bar. See Remove the cross bar.
  2. Make the following components are installed.
    1. Install the system I/O board. See Install the system I/O board (DCSCM).
    2. Install the host board. See Install the host board.
    3. (Optional) Install the E3.S switch board. See Install the E3.S switch board.
    4. Install the GB200-NVL4 board. See Install the GB200-NVL4 board.
    5. Install the CX8 mezzanine module or the MCIO breakout board. See Install a CX8 mezzanine module or Install the MCIO breakout board.
  3. If removing GPU 1, remove system management sideband cable kit first. If removing GPU 3 or 4, remove bus bar connector module first.

  4. Install the GPU cold plate holder to the rear bezel of the tray.

  5. Loosen the GPU cold plate screws (4x) screws
    Note
    Make sure to follow the sequence:

  6. Store the GPU cold plate in the cold plate holder.
    1. Flip over the GPU cold plate.
    2. Insert the GPU cold plate to the cold plate holder.

  7. Install the handles on the GPU.
    1. Loosen the two handles that are stored in the corner of the tray.
    2. Lift up the two handles from the handle sockets.
    3. Install the two handles to the GPU. The handles should be installed to the handle sockets specified in the illustration below.
    4. Fasten the handles to secure them to the GPU.

  8. Hold the two handles, and remove the GPU from the tray.

  9. Proceed to install the GPU according to instructions provided by supplier.
After you finish
  1. Install the water loop. See Install the water loop.

  2. Install the HMC module. See Install the HMC module.

  3. Install the power interposer board. See Install the power interposer board.

  4. Install the bus bar connector module. See Install the bus bar connector module.

  5. Install the sideband cable kit. See Install the system management sideband cable kit.

  6. Install the leakage sensor. See Install the leakage sensor.

  7. Install the E3.S drive cage. See Install an E3.S drive cage assembly.

  8. Install the PCIe adapter riser cage. See Install a ConnectX-7 NDR 200 adapter riser assembly, Install a ConnectX-7 NDR 400 adapter riser assembly, Install a ConnectX-8 XDR adapter riser assembly, or Install the OSFP module.
  9. Install the OSFP module. See Install the OSFP module.
  10. Install the cross bar. See Install the cross bar.

  11. Install the tray cover. See Install the tray cover.

  12. Install the tray into the enclosure. See Install a tray in the enclosure.

  13. Connect all required external cables to the solution.
    Note
    Use extra force to connect QSFP cables to the solution.
  14. Check the power LED on each node to make sure it changes from fast blink to slow blink to indicate all nodes are ready to be powered on.
