Install the bus bars

Use this information to install the bus bars.

Firmware and driver download: You might need to update the firmware or driver after replacing a component.

Procedure

  1. Make preparations for this task.
    1. Remove the tray cover. See Remove the tray cover.
    2. Remove the cross bar. See Remove the cross bar.
  2. Make the following components are installed.
    1. Install the system I/O board. See Install the system I/O board (DCSCM).
    2. Install the host board. See Install the host board.
    3. (Optional) Install the E3.S switch board. See Install the E3.S switch board.
    4. Install the GB200-NVL4 board. See Install the GB200-NVL4 board.
    5. Complete cable routing for GB200-NVL4–host board connection, power interposer board sideband cable, and HSC sideband control cable. See Internal cable routing.
    6. Install the CX8 mezzanine module or the MCIO breakout board. See Install a CX8 mezzanine module or Install the MCIO breakout board.
  3. Installing side bus bar.
    1. Align the side bus bar with the screw holes on the tray; then, install it to the tray.
    2. Install three screws to secure the bus bar to the tray.
    3. Install four thumb screws to secure the bus bar to the host board.

  4. Installing the GB200-NVL4 board bus bars.
    1. Align the two bus bars to the screw hole on the GB200-NVL4 boards; then, install the bus bars to the tray.
    2. Install eight thumb screws to secure the bus bars to the GB200-NVL4 boards.
    3. Install three screws to secure the bus bars to the GB200-NVL4 boards.

  5. Installing middle bus bars.
    1. Align the bus bars to the screw holes on the right-side GB200-NVL4 board and the host board.
    2. Make sure the black bus bars and red bus bars are arranged as illustrated.

    3. Install eight screws to secure the bus bars to the right-side GB200-NVL4 board.
    4. Install eight screws to secure the bus bars to the host board.

After you finish
  1. If needed, install the GPU. See Install a GPU.

  2. Install the water loop. See Install the water loop.

  3. Install the HMC module. See Install the HMC module.

  4. Install the power interposer board. See Install the power interposer board.

  5. Install the bus bar connector module. See Install the bus bar connector module.

  6. Install the sideband cable kit. See Install the system management sideband cable kit.

  7. Install the leakage sensor. See Install the leakage sensor.

  8. Install the E3.S drive cage. See Install an E3.S drive cage assembly.

  9. Install the PCIe adapter riser cage. See Install a ConnectX-7 NDR 200 adapter riser assembly, Install a ConnectX-7 NDR 400 adapter riser assembly, Install a ConnectX-8 XDR adapter riser assembly, or Install the OSFP module.
  10. Install the OSFP module. See Install the OSFP module.
  11. Install the tray cover. See Install the tray cover.

  12. Install the tray into the enclosure. See Install a tray in the enclosure.

  13. Connect all required external cables to the solution.
    Note
    Use extra force to connect QSFP cables to the solution.
  14. Check the power LED on each node to make sure it changes from fast blink to slow blink to indicate all nodes are ready to be powered on.
