Remove a PCIe adapter from a riser cage

Use this information to remove a PCIe adapter from a riser cage.

About this task

Attention
  • Read Installation Guidelines and Safety inspection checklist to ensure that you work safely.

  • Turn off the corresponding DWC tray that you are going to perform the task on.

  • Disconnect all external cables from the enclosure.

  • Use extra force to disconnect QSFP cables if they are connected to the solution.

  • The following illustration might differ slightly from your hardware, but the removal method is the same.

Procedure

  1. Make preparations for this task.
    1. Remove the tray from the enclosure. See Remove a tray from the enclosure.
    2. Remove the tray cover. See Remove the tray cover.
    3. Remove the cross bar. See Remove the cross bar.
    4. Remove the PCIe adapter riser assembly. See Remove a ConnectX-7 NDR 200 adapter riser assembly, Remove a ConnectX-7 NDR 400 adapter riser assembly, Remove a ConnectX-8 XDR adapter riser assembly, or Remove the OSFP module.
  2. Remove the PCIe adapter from the riser cage.
    1. (ONLY for ConnectX-8 adapter) Disconnect the cable from the adapter.
    2. Remove the PH1 screw the secures the adapter to the riser cage.
    3. Remove the adapter from the riser cage.

  3. If necessary, install a filler into the PCIe riser-cage and secure it with a PH1 screw.
