Remove a ConnectX-7 NDR 200 adapter riser assembly

Use this information to remove a ConnectX-7 NDR 200 adapter riser assembly.

About this task

Required tools

  • ConnectX-7 200 interface plate pads

  • Thermal grease

Attention

  • Read Installation Guidelines and Safety inspection checklist to ensure that you work safely.

  • Turn off the corresponding DWC tray that you are going to perform the task on.

  • Disconnect all external cables from the enclosure.

  • Use extra force to disconnect QSFP cables if they are connected to the solution.

Procedure

  1. Make preparations for this task.
    1. Remove the tray from the enclosure. See Remove a tray from the enclosure.
    2. Remove the tray cover. See Remove the tray cover.
    3. Remove the cross bar. See Remove the cross bar.
    4. For shared I/O or socket direct configurations, disconnect the cable from the system board. See Internal cable routing.
  2. Remove the support bracket from the ConnectX-7 NDR 200 riser assembly.
    1. Remove two screws from the support bracket.
    2. Remove the support bracket from the ConnectX-7 NDR 200 riser assembly.

  3. Remove the ConnectX-7 riser assembly.
    1. Loosen the PH 1 captive screw on the riser assembly.
    2. Remove two T10 screws from screw holes marked with B on the riser cage.
    3. Remove the ConnectX-7 riser assembly.

  4. If necessary, remove the interface plate.
    1. Remove five PH1 screws from the interface plate.

    2. Release the interface plate with a flat head screwdriver.

      1. There are openings (marked with blue triangle in the illustration below) on the bottom side of the interface plate for inserting a flat head screwdriver—select the one that is accessible for the flat head screwdriver.

      2. Insert a flat head screwdriver into the opening; then, slightly rotate the screwdriver to release the interface plate from the water loop cold plate.

    3. Remove the interface plate.

  5. If no riser cage or drive cage is to be installed, install the blank bezel filler.
