Remove E3.S 1T dual front drive (Drive 2/3 to 8/9 in Dual CX8 Configuration)

Use this information to remove E3.S 1T dual front drives in drive 2/3 to 8/9 in Dual ConnectX-8 configuration.

About this task

Required tools
  • E3.S mid heat sink

  • E3.S top heat sink

  • E3.S drive cage bottom pad (3x)

Attention
  • Removal procedures listed in this section ONLY apply to drive 2/3, drive 4/5, drive 6/7, or drive 8/9 in Dual ConnectX-8 configuration. To remove drives other than said configuration, refer to Remove E3.S 1T dual front drive.

  • Read Installation Guidelines and Safety inspection checklist to ensure that you work safely.

  • Turn off the corresponding DWC tray that you are going to perform the task on.

  • Disconnect all external cables from the enclosure.

  • Use extra force to disconnect QSFP cables if they are connected to the solution.

Procedure

  1. Make preparations for this task.
    1. Remove the tray from the enclosure. See Remove a tray from the enclosure.
    2. Remove the tray cover. See Remove the tray cover.
    3. Remove the cross bar. See Remove the cross bar.
    4. Remove the E3.S drive cages. see Remove an E3.S front drive cage assembly.
    Attention

    Removal procedures listed in this section ONLY apply to drive 2/3, drive 4/5, drive 6/7, or drive 8/9 in Dual CX8 mezzanine module configuration. To install drives other than said configuration, refer to Remove E3.S 1T dual front drive.

  2. Remove two PH1 screws to remove the side holder.

  3. Remove one screw to release the bezel from the backplane.

  4. Removing two screws to remove the drive cage bezel from the drive cage.

  5. Remove the drive backplane.

  6. Remove four screws to release the drive from the drive cage.

  7. Remove the heat sink.
    1. Rotate the heat sink until it is positioned at an angle.
    2. Remove the heat sink from the drive cage.

  8. Remove the drive from the drive cage.


  9. Remove the drive.


  10. Remove four screws to release the drive from the drive cage.

  11. Remove the drive from the drive cage.
