Remove the HMC module

Use this information to remove the HMC module.

About this task

Attention

  • Read Installation Guidelines and Safety inspection checklist to ensure that you work safely.

  • Turn off the corresponding DWC tray that you are going to perform the task on.

  • Disconnect all external cables from the enclosure.

  • Use extra force to disconnect QSFP cables if they are connected to the solution.

Procedure

  1. Make preparations for this task.
    1. Remove the tray from the enclosure. See Remove a tray from the enclosure.
    2. Remove the tray cover. See Remove the tray cover.
    3. Remove the TPM module. See Remove the TPM module.
  2. Disconnect the HMC cables from the host board. See Internal cable routing.
  3. Remove the HMC module from the left-side GB200-NVL4 board.
    1. Loosen two (2x) PH2 thumbscrews from the HMC module.
    2. Remove the HMC module.

  4. Disconnect cables from the HMC module.

  5. Remove four (4x) T10 screws. Then, remove the HMC card from the back plate.
