Remove the host board

Use this information to remove the host board.

About this task

Required tools
  • Screwdriver for PH 2, T10, and T15 screws

  • Water loop shipping bracket

  • GPU cold plate handle assembly

  • GB200 NVL4 TIM Jig

  • T15 screwdriver

  • T10 bit together with torque wrench

  • SC777 V4 GB200 Grease SE 7921

Attention
  • Read Installation Guidelines and Safety inspection checklist to ensure that you work safely.

  • Turn off the corresponding DWC tray that you are going to perform the task on.

  • Disconnect all external cables from the enclosure.

  • Use extra force to disconnect QSFP cables if they are connected to the solution.

  • To avoid damaging the water loop, always use the water loop carrier when removing, installing or folding the water loop.

  • The following illustration might differ slightly from your hardware, but the removal method is the same.

Procedure

  1. Make preparations for this task.
    1. Remove the tray from the enclosure. See Remove a tray from the enclosure.
    2. Remove the tray cover. See Remove the tray cover.
    3. Remove the cross bar. See Remove the cross bar.
    4. Remove the PCIe adapter riser assembly. See Remove a ConnectX-7 NDR 200 adapter riser assembly, Remove a ConnectX-7 NDR 400 adapter riser assembly, Remove a ConnectX-8 XDR adapter riser assembly, or Remove the OSFP module.
    5. Remove the E3.S drive cages. see Remove an E3.S front drive cage assembly.
    6. Remove the water loop from the tray. See Remove the water loop.
  2. Disconnect all cables from the host board. See Internal cable routing.
  3. Loosen two PH2 thumbscrews to release the host board from the tray.

  4. Slide out the host board. Remove the host board from the tray.

  5. Remove and keep the system I/O board. See Remove the system I/O board (DCSCM).
