Cabling a two-node switchless cluster

The optional data ports, optional NIC cards, and management ports on the controller modules are connected to switches. The cluster interconnect and HA ports are cabled between both controller modules.

Before you begin

You must have contacted your network administrator for information about connecting the system to the switches.

About this task

Be sure to check the direction of the cable pull-tabs when inserting the cables in the ports. Cable pull-tabs are up for all onboard ports and down for expansion (NIC) cards.

Note
As you insert the connector, you should feel it click into place; if you do not feel it click, remove it, turn it around and try again.
  1. Complete the cabling between the controllers and to the switches:
    1. Cable ports e0a to e0a between controller A and controller B.
    2. Cable ports e0b to e0b between controller A and controller B.
    3. Cable ports e3a to e3a and e3b to e3b between controllers A and B.
    4. Cable the e0M management ports for each controller to your management network.
    5. If needed you can also cable your Ethernet and FibreChannel ports to the host provided switches using the available ports.
  2. Cable your storage: Cabling controllers to drive shelves
