Install the DWC PSU manifold

Use this information to install the DWC PSU manifold.

About this task

CAUTION

The water might cause irritation to the skin and eyes. Avoid direct contact with the lubricant.

The power-control button on the device and the power switch on the power supply do not turn off the electrical current supplied to the device. The device also might have more than one power cord. To remove all electrical current from the device, ensure that all power cords are disconnected from the power source.

Attention

  • Read Installation Guidelines and Safety inspection checklist to ensure that you work safely.

  • Ensure proper handling procedures are followed when working with any chemically treated water used in the compute rack cooling system. Ensure that material safety data sheets (MSDS) and safety information are provided by the water chemical treatment supplier and that proper personal protective equipment (PPE) is available as recommended by the water chemical treatment supplier. Protective gloves and eyewear may be recommended as a precaution.

  • The task in this section requires two or more people.

Procedure

  1. Tighten four screws to secure the bottom bracket to the rack cabinet.

  2. Tighten six screws to secure the top bracket to the rack cabinet.

  3. Install the DWC PSU manifold assembly.
    1. Route Supply/Return Hoses under bottom rack bracket as shown.
    2. Insert tabs on bottom of manifold into slots on bottom manifold bracket.
    3. Rotate the top part of the DWC PSU manifold assembly into the rack cabinet as shown.
    4. Make sure the plunger is secured in place.

  4. Install and tighten the two nuts on the top manifold bracket as shown.

  5. Install and tighten the two nuts on the bottom manifold bracket as shown.

  6. Connect the DWC PSU manifold hose assembly to the DWC power supply quick connect.

  7. At the front of the rack, connect the facility supply hose to the rack return hose. Press the unlock pin and partially open the supply hose, about 1/4 of the way.
    Note
    Do not fully open the facility ball valve or you will reduce your ability to control the flow as you fill the rack.

  8. Connect the hose assembly (supplied to customer installation site) to the top quick connect at Location A (top of the DWC manifold) and place the other end in a bucket. Slowly open the hose valve to allow air to flow out of the hose. Close the hose valve once a steady stream of water flows into the bucket or there are minimal bubbles in the sight-glass.

  9. Disconnect the hose assembly from Location A and connect it to Location B. Slowly open the hose valve to allow air to flow out of the hose. Close the hose valve once a steady stream of water flows into the bucket or there are minimal bubbles in the sight-glass.

  10. Go to the front of the rack, disconnect the facility supply hose from the rack return hose and connect the facility supply hose to the rack supply hose.

  11. Repeat the filling process and connect the hose assembly first to Location B then Location A.
    Note

    • Be sure to always close the valve on the hose before disconnecting it.

    • There should be minimal air present in the sight glass.

  12. Once completed, go back to the front and connect the facility return hose to the rack return hose. Fully open all connections on both the supply and return side. The DWC PSU manifold should be completely filled.

  13. Connect one end of the power cord for the power supply into the AC connector on the back of the power supply; then, connect the other end of the power cord into a properly grounded electrical outlet.
  14. If the node is turned off, turn on the node.
  15. Make sure that the AC power LED on the power supply is lit, indicating that the power supply is operating correctly. If the solution is turned on, make sure that the dc power LED on the power supply is lit also.
