Remove the 2.5-inch backplane

Use this information to remove the 2.5-inch drive backplane.

About this task

Attention
  • Read the following section(s) to ensure that you work safely.

  • Power off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords and all external cables. See Power off the server.

  • If the server is installed in a rack, remove the server from the rack.

Note
Depending on the configuration, the following illustration might differ slightly from your backplane.

Procedure

  1. Make preparations for this task.
    1. Remove all drives and drive fillers from the drive bays. See Remove a hot-swap drive.
    2. Remove the top cover. See Remove the top cover.
    3. Disconnect the cables from the backplane. See Backplane and backplate cable routing.
  2. Grasp the backplane and carefully lift it out of the chassis.
