Remove an adapter

Use this information to remove an adapter.

Before you remove an adapter, complete the following steps:
Attention
Replacing the adapter might impact your RAID configurations. Back up your data before the replacement to avoid any data loss due to a RAID configuration change.
  1. Read the following section(s) to ensure that you work safely.
  2. Turn off the server. Disconnect the power cords and all external cables (see Power off the server).

  3. If server is installed in a rack, remove the server from the rack.

  4. Remove the top cover (see Remove the top cover).

  5. Remove the PCIe riser assembly (see Remove the PCIe riser assembly).

  6. Record the cable connections on the adapter; then, disconnect all cables from the adapter.

To remove an adapter, complete the following steps:

Disengage the adapter by pulling it straight out of the riser cage.
Note
Remove one adapter at a time, do not pull out two adapters at the same time.

If you are instructed to return the defective component, please package the part to prevent any shipping damage. Reuse the packaging the new part arrived in and follow all packaging instructions.
