Remove the PCIe adapter (Slot 3)

Use this information to remove the PCIe adapter from PCIe slot 3.

About this task

Attention
  • Replacing the RAID adapter might impact your RAID configurations. Back up your data before the replacement to avoid any data loss due to a RAID configuration change.

  • Read the following section(s) to ensure that you work safely.
  • Power off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords and all external cables. See Power off the server.

  • If the server is installed in a rack, remove the server from the rack.

The following illustration might differ slightly from your hardware, but the removal method is the same

Procedure

  1. Remove the top cover. See Remove the top cover.
  2. Remove the PCIe adapter.

    1. Remove the screw that secures the PCIe adapter.
    2. Slide the PCIe adapter aside to disengage the adapter from the connector.
  3. Record the cable connections on the adapter; then, disconnect all cables from the adapter.

If you are instructed to return the component or optional device, follow all packaging instructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
