Remove a GPU

Use this information to remove a GPU.

Note
  • Depending on the specific type, your GPU might look different from the illustration in this topic.

  • Use any documentation that comes with the GPU and follow those instructions in addition to the instructions in this topic.

Before removing a GPU:
  1. Remove the top cover. See Remove the top cover.

  2. Remove the riser assembly that has the GPU installed. For instructions on how to remove the riser assembly, see Remove a riser card.

To remove a GPU, complete the following steps:

  1. Depending on the GPU type, do one of the following:
    • For NVIDIA FHHL V100 GPU, remove the V100 GPU air baffle first.

    • For full-height full-length GPUs, remove the GPU holder from the GPU assembly.

    • For NVIDIA P4 GPU, remove the P4 GPU air baffle (also called the P4 GPU air baffle).

  2. Disconnect the power cable from the GPU assembly.
  3. Remove the GPU from the riser assembly. See Remove a PCIe adapter from the riser assembly.
If you are instructed to return the old GPU, follow all packaging instructions and use any packaging materials that are provided.
