Install a quick connect plug latch

Use this information to install a quick connect plug latch.

About this task

Important

This task must be operated by trained technicians that are certified by Lenovo Service. Do not attempt to remove or install the part without proper training and qualification.

CAUTION

The coolant might cause irritation to the skin and eyes. Avoid direct contact with the coolant.

Attention

  • Read Installation Guidelines and Safety inspection checklist to ensure that you work safely.

  • Power off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords and all external cables. See Power off the server.

  • Prevent exposure to static electricity, which might lead to system halt and loss of data, by keeping static-sensitive components in their static-protective packages until installation, and handling these devices with an electrostatic-discharge wrist strap or other grounding system.

  • Ensure proper handling procedures are followed when working with any chemically treated coolant used in the rack cooling system. Ensure that material safety data sheets (MSDS) and safety information are provided by the coolant chemical treatment supplier and that proper personal protective equipment (PPE) is available as recommended by the coolant chemical treatment supplier. Protective gloves and eyewear may be recommended as a precaution.

  • This task requires two or more people.

Procedure

  1. Orient the hosing with the spring pocket facing up.
  2. Install the quick connect plug latch.
    1. Insert the spring into the spring pocket.
    2. Insert the latch into the slot and press it down. Deflect the retention tabs and continue pressing until the tabs snap into place and the latch is secured.
    Note
    Ensure that the spring is secured in the spring pockets of both the housing and the latch.

  3. Cycle the latch two to three times to ensure functionality.

After you finish
  1. Install the quick connect plug to the manifold. Depending on the configuration, see Install the manifold (in-rack system) or Install the manifold (in-row system).
  2. Complete the parts replacement. See Complete the parts replacement.
