SBE Family Names

There are three Lenovo SBE families available, which are indicated by a specific SBE family name.

Each is designed to work with a particular range of Lenovo server machine types. Despite targeting different servers, all families offer the same functionality and integrate seamlessly with Lenovo's Cluster Aware Update framework. The specific server compatibility for each family is outlined below.

ThinkAgileMX​

Starting with SBE 5.0.2512.1000, all Lenovo ThinkAgile MX updates will be handled under a unified SBE package under the ThinkAgileMX SBE Family. This SBE family is designed to support all Lenovo MX Solutions (Premier and non-Premier). This SBE package implements download connector interfaces that allow Azure Local to download future SBE updates from the cloud on behalf of the user. This feature enables new updates from Lenovo to show a “Ready” state as soon as updates are available. Once the update shows it is ready to install, the customer can start the update process using a single click in Azure Update Manager. The 5.0.2512.1000 and subsequent SBE packages have a hard requirement of having installed 4.2.2510.1000 (normal Premier path) or .1005 (normal Standard sideload path) prior in order to enable the download connector interfaces that allow for automatic downloads via the Azure Local portal.

ThinkAgileMXPremier​

This SBE family is designed to support Lenovo MX Premier Solutions (PR). The Premier SBE package implements download connector interfaces that allow Azure Local to download future SBE updates from the cloud on behalf of the user. This feature enables new updates from Lenovo to show a “Ready” state as soon as updates are available. Once the update shows it is ready to install, the customer can start the update process using a single click in Azure Update Manager.

ThinkAgileMXStandard​

This SBE family is designed to support Lenovo MX Integrated Systems (IS) and Certified Nodes (CN). While Azure Local can automatically discover Solution Builder Extension updates, the SBE Package must be downloaded manually from the Lenovo ThinkAgile MX updates repository (https://thinkagile.lenovo.com/MX/SBE_Std/) and then imported via command line to the cluster. Seeing the “Additional Content Required” state is used to indicate that an update is available, but the SBE files are missing. The Standard SBE package must be manually imported before the update can be installed..
