Removing the chassis bulkhead

Use this information to remove the chassis bulkhead. The chassis bulkhead is installed on the lower compute node of the Flex System x222 Compute Node.

Before you remove the chassis bulkhead, complete the following steps:
  1. Read Safety and Installation guidelines.
  2. If the Flex System x222 Compute Node is installed in a chassis, remove it (see Removing a compute node from a chassis for instructions).
  3. Carefully lay the compute node on a flat, static-protective surface, orienting the compute node with the bezel pointing toward the left.

To remove the chassis bulkhead, complete the following steps.

Graphic illustrating removing the chassis bulkhead.

  1. Remove the upper compute node (see Removing the upper compute node).
  2. Remove the I/O expansion adapter, if one is installed in the lower compute node (see Removing an I/O expansion adapter).
  3. Remove the fabric connector from the lower compute node (see Removing the fabric connector).
  4. Carefully place the lower compute node on its side with the front handle side up.
  5. Using a T8 Torx screwdriver, remove the screws that secure the bulkhead from the bottom of the lower compute node.
  6. Carefully return the chassis to the bottom-side-down orientation.
  7. Using a T8 Torx screwdriver, remove the screws that secure the bulkhead from the sides of the lower compute node.
  8. Lift the chassis bulkhead from the lower compute node.
If you are instructed to return the chassis bulkhead, follow all packaging instructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
