Single node cannot ping the CMM in the same chassis

Use the information in this section to troubleshoot a single Flex System x222 Compute Node that cannot ping the CMM on the management network in the same chassis.

Complete the following steps until the problem is solved:
  1. Make sure that the Chassis Management Module is powered on and the applicable ports are enabled on the CMM.
  2. Make sure that both the upper and lower compute node IMMs in the Flex System x222 Compute Node have acquired IP addresses from the CMM by using the Setup utility on each compute node.
    Note
If the CMM recently lost connection to the DCHP server, you must reset the IMMs by using the CMM interface so that new IP addresses can be acquired.
  3. In the CMM user interface, click Chassis Management > Component IP Configuration and make sure that the IP addresses that are listed are the same as the IP addresses that are displayed in the Setup utility. If the same IP addresses are not listed, configure the IMM network settings correctly or reset the IMMs to automatically acquire new IP addresses.
  4. Check the Lenovo Support Portal for any firmware updates that might apply to this problem. You can view the release notes for a firmware update to determine the issues that the update addresses.
  5. Remove the Flex System x222 Compute Node from the chassis and check the connectors on the back of the node for bent pins. If the pins are bent, contact Support.
  6. Install the Flex System x222 Compute Node in another node bay to determine whether the problem remains. If the problem remains, make sure that the compute nodes are connected to ports that have been enabled and that the vLAN settings allow the ports to connect to the network.
  7. Check the Lenovo Support Portal for any service bulletins that are related to network connectivity.
  8. (Trained service technician only) Complete the following steps:
    1. Force the link/duplex speed.
    2. Check the connectors on the I/O module to make sure that no pins are bent.
    3. Check the connectors on the chassis midplane to make sure that no pins are bent.
    4. Remove the CMM and install a working CMM in the same bay.
    5. If the problem is solved, replace the CMM that you removed.
