Removing the server top cover

Use this information to remove the server cover.

To remove the server top cover, complete the following steps:

1. Read the safety information and installation guidelines, see Safety and Installation guidelines.
2. Turn off the server (see Turning off the server) and all attached peripheral devices. Disconnect all power cords; then, disconnect all external cables as necessary to replace the device.
   Note

   If you need to view any LEDs on the system board after you disconnect power, press the Light path button to light the LEDs.
3. If the server has been installed in a rack, slide the server out from the rack enclosure.
4. Press in on the blue tab on the cover-release latch and lift the cover release latch up (the cover slides to the rear). Lift the cover off the server and set it aside.
