Removing the battery

Use this information to remove the battery from the CMM.

Note
When a CMM is no longer needed, remove the battery and recycle or properly dispose of both the CMM and battery according to applicable local and national ordinances or regulations. (See the Environmental Notices and User Guide document on the Lenovo documentation CD for additional information.)
Before you remove the battery, complete the following steps:
  1. Read Safety and Installation guidelines.
  2. If the CMM is installed in a Flex System chassis, remove it (see Removing a Chassis Management Module 2 for instructions).

To remove the battery, complete the following steps:

  1. Carefully lay the CMM on a flat, static-protective surface, with the release handle side up, and the bezel pointing toward you.
  2. Remove the screws on each side of the CMM cover, toward the rear of the CMM.

  3. Open and remove the CMM cover by lifting the rear edge.

  4. Locate the battery. The battery is typically toward the side of the CMM system board.

  5. Using your fingernail, press the battery retaining clip. The battery should pop free.

  6. Lift the battery from the socket.
After removing the battery, dispose of the battery as required by local ordinances or regulations.
