Clearing the configuration on a controller module that was previously used

Before using a controller module as a replacement in the MetroCluster configuration, you must clear the preexisting configuration if it was previously used and not received directly from Lenovo.

Before you begin

The replacement controller must have been cleanly shut down with no content in the NVRAM cache.

About this task

This task is not required on controller modules that were received directly from Lenovo.
  1. At the LOADER prompt, set the system to default values: set-defaults
  2. Save the environment: saveenv bye
  3. At the LOADER prompt, launch the boot menu: boot_ontap menu

    Select y if the following message appears:

    WARNING: System id mismatch. This usually occurs when replacing CF or NVRAM cards!
    Override system id? {y|n} , select "y"
  4. At the boot menu prompt, clear the configuration: wipeconfig
    The boot menu is displayed again.
  5. At the boot menu, select option 8 to reboot the controller, and when the system reboots, press Ctrl-C when prompted to display the LOADER prompt.
