Remove the enclosure cover

Use this information to remove the enclosure cover.

About this task

To avoid possible danger, read and follow the following safety statement.

    Hazardous voltage, current, and energy levels might be present. Only a qualified service technician is authorized to remove the covers where the label is attached.

    CAUTION

    Hazardous energy present. Voltages with hazardous energy might cause heating when shorted with metal, which might result in spattered metal, burns, or both.

Procedure

  1. Make preparations for this task.
    1. Turn off the solution and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords and all external cables (see Power off the compute node).
    2. If the solution is installed in a rack, remove the solution from the rack (see Remove the server/solution from the rails).
      CAUTION
      To avoid a drop hazard, slide the enclosure out of the rack slowly and steadily. Make sure to grip the enclosure with both hands when pulling it forward on the slide rails and lifting it out of the rack. Use safe practices when lifting.
  2. Remove the enclosure cover from the enclosure.
    1. Use Phillips #1 screwdriver to loosen the three captive screws on the enclosure cover.
    2. Slightly rotate the enclosure cover outwards and pull it out of the enclosure.

If you are instructed to return the component or optional device, follow all of the packaging instructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
