Summary of the technical specifications of server. Depending on the model, some features might not be available, or some specifications might not apply.

Processor
Supports multi-core Intel Xeon processors, with integrated memory controller and Intel Mesh UPI (Ultra Path Interconnect) topology.
  • Two processor sockets with minimal requirement of two installed on the system board.
  • Designed for LGA 4189 sockets
  • Scalable up to 40 cores
  • Supports 3 UPI links at 11.2 GT/s

Memory

    • 16 DIMM slots per node, 8 DIMMs per processor. SD650-N V3 only supports fully populated DIMM configuration.

Important
  • The tray only supports fully populated processor and memory configuration (2 processors and 16 DIMMs per node).

  • Mixing DIMM speed is not supported.

  • Before installing 24 Gb DRAM RDIMMs to a system with 4th Gen Intel Xeon processors (codenamed Sapphire Rapids), make sure to update the UEFI firmware to the latest version first, then remove all existing 16 Gb DRAM RDIMMs.

  • ADDDC not supported for 9x4 ECC DIMM (Value)

M.2 Drive
The server support the following M.2 drive capacity:

Storage expansion

The 4-DW GPU Model supports one of following storage configuration:

  • Up to eight hot-swap 2.5-inch SAS/SATA/NVMe drives

  • Up to four hot-swap 3.5-inch SATA drives

The 8-DW GPU Model supports the following storage configuration:

  • Up to six hot-swap EDSFF drives

Note
When Front I/O expansion board is installed, rear PCIe riser 1 and rear PCIe riser 2 are not available.
Graphics processing unit (GPU)

The 4-DW GPU Model supports one of following GPU configuration:

  • Up to four PCIe x16, double-wide, FH/FL GPUs

The 8-DW GPU Model supports the following GPU configuration:

  • Up to eight PCIe x16, double-wide, FH/FL GPUs

  • Up to eight PCIe x16, single-wide, FH/FL GPUs

Note

The DisplayPort ports on the Nvidia A40 GPU are not supported when used in the ThinkSystem SD650 V3.

Integrated functions
  • Lenovo XClarity Controller (XCC), which provides service processor control and monitoring functions, video controller, and remote keyboard, video, mouse, and remote drive capabilities.
  • One XCC system management port on the rear to connect to a systems-management network. This RJ-45connector is dedicated to the Lenovo XClarity Controller functions and runs at 1 GB speed.
  • A group of two or four Ethernet connectors on OCP 3.0 Ethernet adapter

  • Up to four USB 3.2 Gen1 ports:

    • Three on the rear of the server

    • (Optional) One on the front of the server1.

  • One internal USB 3.2 Gen1 port

  • (Optional) One USB 2.0 port on the front of the server1.

  • (Optional) External LCD diagnostics handset connector on the front of the server1.

  • Up to two VGA connectors

    • One on the rear of the server

    • (Optional) One on the front of the server1.

  • (Optional) One serial port connector on the rear of the server2.

  • Two processors in socket 1 and 2

  • Two DRAM memory modules in slots 14 and 30

  • One boot drive, M.2, 2.5-inch, 3.5-inch, or EDSFF drive, and RAID adapter if configured. (If OS is needed by debugging)
