Configure management port

Refer to the following section for more information on configuring management port.

Management port​

The following Ethernet ports can be configured as management port in SD665 V3 tray installed in DW612S.

  1. Ethernet port on SMM2 (default)

  2. 1 Gb RJ45 Ethernet port on the front of the node

  3. 25 Gb SFP28 Ethernet port on ConnectX-6 LOM

Configure the management port​

Use Lenovo XClarity Essentials OneCLI to configure the management port.

  1. Configure 25 Gb SFP28 Ethernet port on ConnectX-6 LOM

    onecli config set IMM.SharedNicMode Shared --bmc <bmc_user_id>:<bmc_password>@<bmc_external_IP>

  2. Configure 1 Gb RJ45 Ethernet port on the front of the node as management port

    onecli config set IMM.SharedNicMode Shared:nic0 --bmc <bmc_user_id>:<bmc_password>@<bmc_external_IP>

  3. Configure SMM2 Ethernet port as management port

    onecli config set IMM.SharedNicMode Dedicated --bmc <bmc_user_id>:<bmc_password>@<bmc_external_IP>

Verify the result of management port configuration​

Use the OneCLI command to verify the result of management port configuration:

onecli config show IMM.SharedNicMode

Shared or Dedicated would appear on the screen—Shared indicates 1 Gb RJ45 Ethernet port or 25 Gb SFP28 Ethernet port on ConnectX-6 LOM is the management port; Dedicated indicates SMM2 Ethernet port is the management port.

UEFI setup menu also shows the management port configuration. Go to LXPM > UEFI Setup > BMC Settings > Network Settings > Network Interface Port, and check whether the setting is Shared or Dedicated.
