XCC WLAN configuration

Use the following information to configure XCC WLAN.

SE360 V2 with wireless module supports XCC WLAN. XCC WLAN works in STA mode and the features can be configured in Lenovo XClarity Controller.

Log in to Lenovo XClarity Controller web interface, and go to BMC Configuration > Network > WLAN to configure XCC WLAN.

Note
  • Before connecting XCC to WLAN, set the network connection for XCC to access and enable XCC WLAN feature. See Set the network connection for the Lenovo XClarity Controller.

  • The supported security type of WLAN varies by security mode. A warning window will be shown for attempts on establishing WLAN connection with unsupported security type. For more information of security mode, see Security Mode.

Enable XCC WLAN

XCC WLAN is disabled by default. Click Disabled in the WLAN section to enable XCC WLAN.

After the status changing to Enabled, the available WLAN will be scanned and listed.

Country / Region

To comply with local regulations, make sure that the value is consistent with the location.

Connect to WLAN

Connect to available WLAN in the list

  1. Select the WLAN in the list and click it.

    Note
    The Auto connect checkbox is checked by default. If the WLAN connection is successfully established with the checkbox checked, the connected WLAN will be saved; XCC WLAN will connect to the saved WLAN automatically. See Manage auto-connect to manage the list of saved WLAN.
  2. Select Security type. The field below might change according to the selected security type.
    Note
    Make sure to select the correct security type that is supported by the WLAN.
  3. Enter User and Password for the WLAN if applicable.
    Note
    When XCC is already connected to WLAN, to change the connection to another WLAN, make sure to select and input the accurate information. Once XCC attempts to establish a new WLAN connection but fails because of incorrect information, XCC will lose WLAN connection and need LAN connection to enable WLAN again.
  4. Click Connect to connect to the WLAN. Once the connection is successfully established, the interface shows Status and Disconnect buttons for the WLAN.

Connect to WLAN by adding wireless network manually

  1. Click Add Wireless Network and enter the required information.

    1. Enter SSID.

    2. Select Security type. The field below might change according to the selected security type.
      Note
      Make sure to select the correct security type that is supported by the WLAN.
    3. Enter User and Password for the WLAN if applicable.
      Note
      • When XCC is already connected to WLAN, to change the connection to another WLAN, make sure to select and input the accurate information. Once XCC attempts to establish a new WLAN connection but fails because of incorrect information, XCC will lose WLAN connection and need LAN connection to enable WLAN again.

      • The Auto connect checkbox is checked by default. If the WLAN connection is successfully established with the checkbox checked, the connected WLAN will be saved; XCC WLAN will connect to the saved WLAN automatically. See Manage auto-connect to manage the list of saved WLAN.

    4. Click Connect to connect to the WLAN. Once the connection is successfully established, the interface shows Status and Disconnect buttons for the WLAN.

Check the WLAN connection status

Click Status button to check the WLAN connection status.

The status window provides the following information:

  • SSID
  • Security type
  • IPv4
  • Netmask
  • DNS
  • Network band
  • Network channel
  • Link speed (Receive/Transmit)

Disconnect from WLAN

Click Disconnect button to disconnect XCC from WLAN.

Manage auto-connect

  1. Click Manage Known Wireless Network. The list of saved WLAN connection will be shown.

  2. Click Forget to delete a WLAN connection from the list.

  3. To exit the list, click Return.

IPv4 setting

If necessary, select one of the following methods and adjust the settings accordingly.

  • Obtain IP from DHCP
  • Use static IP address
  • DHCP, then static IP address
