Remove a system fan

Use this information to remove the system fan.

Before removing a system fan:

  1. Remove the top cover. See Remove the top cover.

  2. Remove the air baffle. See Remove the air baffle.

To remove a system fan, complete the following steps:

  1. Disconnect the fan cable from the system board.
  2. Press the fan cage bracket to the front of the server, grasp the top of the fan, and lift the fan out of the server.
If you are instructed to return the old system fan, follow all packaging instructions and use any packaging materials that are provided.
