Remove the 2.5-inch-drive backplane

Use this information to remove the 2.5-inch-drive backplane.

Before removing the backplane:

  1. Remove the top cover. See Remove the top cover.

  2. Remove all the installed drives and drive fillers (if any) from the drive bays. See Remove a hot-swap drive.

To remove the backplane, complete the following steps:

  1. Lift the release tabs and pivot the backplane backward slightly to release it from the two pins on the chassis.
  2. Lift the backplane out of the chassis carefully.
  3. Disconnect cables from the backplane.

If you are instructed to return the old backplane, follow all packaging instructions and use any packaging materials that are provided.
