Remove the system fan cage

Use this information to remove the system fan cage.

Before removing the system fan cage:

  1. Remove the top cover. See Remove the top cover.

  2. Remove the air baffle. See Remove the air baffle.

  3. If you are replacing the system fan cage, remove all system fans first. See Remove a system fan. If you are removing the system fan cage to access other components, you can remove it with the system fans installed.

To remove the system fan cage, complete the following steps:

  1. Remove the screws that secure the system fan cage to the chassis from the exterior of the chassis.
  2. Grasp the system fan cage and carefully lift it out of the chassis.
If you are instructed to return the old system fan cage, follow all packaging instructions and use any packaging materials that are provided.
