Install a system fan

Use this information to install the system fan.

Power off the server for this task

ATTENTION: Static Sensitive Device Ground package before opening

Before installing a system fan, touch the static-protective package that contains the new system fan to any unpainted surface on the outside of the server. Then, take the new system fan out of the package and place it on a static-protective surface.

To install a system fan, complete the following steps:

1. Press the fan cage bracket to the front of the server.
2. Position the system fan so that the airflow arrow on the fan points toward the rear of the server. Insert the fan into the bracket and push on top of the fan to make sure that the fan is fully seated.
   Note

   The correct airflow is from the front to the rear of the server.
