Install a rear PCIe adapter
Follow instructions in this section to install a rear PCIe adapter.
About this task
Attention
- Read Installation Guidelines and Safety inspection checklist to ensure that you work safely.
- Touch the static-protective package that contains the component to any unpainted metal surface on the server; then, remove it from the package and place it on a static-protective surface.
Note
The PCIe adapter might look different from the illustration.
Procedure
- Open the retention latch on the PCIe riser.
- Install the rear PCIe adapter.
Insert the rear PCIe adapter into the PCIe riser.
Fasten the screw to secure the rear PCIe adapter to the PCIe riser.

After you finish
- If applicable, reconnect the cable to the rear PCIe adapter.
- If applicable, reinstall the PCIe adapter retention bracket. See Install a PCIe adapter retention bracket.
- Reinstall the PCIe riser. See Install a PCIe riser.
- Complete the parts replacement. See Complete the parts replacement.
