Install a rear PCIe adapter

Follow instructions in this section to install a rear PCIe adapter.

About this task

Attention
  • Read Installation Guidelines and Safety inspection checklist to ensure that you work safely.
  • Touch the static-protective package that contains the component to any unpainted metal surface on the server; then, remove it from the package and place it on a static-protective surface.
Note
  • PCIe solid fillers must be installed in slots 1 and 2 if no PCIe adapter is installed in those slots in the 4-DW GPU Model and the 8-DW GPU Model.
  • The PCIe adapter might look different from the illustration.

Procedure

  1. Open the retention latch on the PCIe riser.
  2. Install the rear PCIe adapter.
    1. Insert the rear PCIe adapter into the PCIe riser.
    2. Fasten the screw to secure the rear PCIe adapter to the PCIe riser.
    3. Close the retention latch.

After you finish

  1. If applicable, reconnect the cable to the rear PCIe adapter.
  2. If applicable, reinstall the PCIe adapter retention bracket. See Install a PCIe adapter retention bracket.
  3. Reinstall the PCIe riser. See Install a PCIe riser.
  4. Complete the parts replacement. See Complete the parts replacement.
