Server hardware setup
To set up the server, install any options that have been purchased, cable the server, configure and update the firmware, and install the operating system.

- Cable the server
Attach all external cables to the server. Typically, you will need to connect the server to a power source, to the data network, and to storage. In addition, you will need to connect the server to the management network. - Power on the server
After the server performs a short self-test (power status LED flashes quickly) when connected to input power, it enters a standby state (power status LED flashes once per second). - Validate server setup
After powering up the server, make sure that the LEDs are lit and that they are green. - Power off the server
The server remains in a standby state when it is connected to a power source, allowing the Lenovo XClarity Controller to respond to remote power-on requests. To remove all power from the server (power status LED off), you must disconnect all power cables.
