System board assembly replacement (trained technician only)

Follow instructions in this section to remove and install the system board assembly.

Note

  • This task must be operated by trained technicians that are certified by Lenovo Service. Do not attempt to remove or install the part without proper training and qualification.

  • When the server has a Processor Neptune® Core Module (NeptCore) installed, you must apply for a shipping bracket FRU first if you need to install or remove the system board assembly or processor. However, when replacing the old Processor Neptune® Core Module (NeptCore) with a new one, you do not need to apply for a shipping bracket FRU as the new module package contains it.

CAUTION

Attention/Caution/Danger icon, warning users and servicers of a hot surface nearby
The heat sinks and processors might be very hot. Turn off the server and wait several minutes to let the server cool before removing the server cover.
The following illustration shows the layout of the system board assembly which contains the system I/O board (DC-SCM) and the processor board.
