For servers that include software RAID adapters (such as 110i AnyRAID Adapter, ServeRAID C100 or C105 adapter, and Intel RSTe SATA Software RAID adapter), when the SATA adapter is enabled in the management controller, the SATA mode must be set to AHCI.
. Other modes (such as RAID
and IDE
) are not supported for software RAID by RHEL, SUSE, VMware or Windows operating systems.
Note
Each server must have a hardware RAID adapter that is installed and configured. The software RAID that is typically present on the onboard Intel SATA storage adapter is not supported. However, if a hardware RAID adapter is not present, setting the SATA adapter to AHCI SATA mode enabled operating-system deployment might work in some cases.
To modify the SATA mode for ThinkServers, complete the following steps.
From the AMI Setup Utility, select the Advanced Settings menu.
Use the arrow keys to select the SATA Mode.
Press + to change the value to AHCI.
Press F10 to save the change.
To modify the SATA mode for other servers, complete the following steps.

menu.Press + to change the value to AHCI.
Press F10 to save the change.
