Compute node specifications

Features and specifications of the compute node.

Table 1. Compute node specifications
SpecificationDescription
Processor (depending on the model)Supports two 3rd Gen Intel® Xeon® Scalable, up to 250W processors per compute node.
Note
  1. Use the Setup utility to determine the type and speed of the processors in the node.
  2. For a list of supported processors, see Lenovo ServerProven website.
Memory

See Memory module installation rules and order for detailed information about memory configuration and setup.

  • Minimum: 16 GB (single DDR4 DRAM RDIMM with one processor)

  • Maximum: 2048 GB with 16 x 128 GB RDIMMs

  • Memory module types: Industry-standard double-data-rate 4 (DDR4), dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) registered dual in-line memory modules (RDIMMs) with error-correcting code (ECC)
  • Capacity (depending on the model): 16 GB, 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB RDIMM
  • Slots: Supports up to 16 DIMM slots

For a list of supported memory modules, see Lenovo ServerProven website.

Drive baysSupports up to two 7mm 2.5-inch hot-swap SATA/NVMe solid-state drive bays or one 15mm 2.5-inch hot-swap NVMe solid-state drive bay per compute node.
M.2 drive/backplaneThe ThinkSystem M.2 backplane supports up to two identical M.2 drives.
Expansion slotOne expansion slot is available per compute node.

Ambient temperature managementAdjust ambient temperature when specific components are installed:
  • Keep ambient temperature to 30°C or lower when one or more of the following processors are installed:
    • Processors with TDP (thermal design power) 165 watts or lower
  • Keep ambient temperature to 25°C or lower when one or more of the following processors are installed:
    • Processors with TDP (thermal design power) higher than 165 watts
    • Intel(R) Xeon(R) Gold 6334 (165 watts, 8 core)
EnvironmentThe ThinkSystem SD630 V2 Compute Node complies with ASHRAE Class A2 specifications.
The ThinkSystem SD630 V2 Compute Node is supported in the following environment:
  • Air temperature:

    • Operating: 10°C - 35°C (50°F - 95°F); the maximum ambient temperature decreases by 1°C for every 300 m (984 ft) increase in altitude above 900 m (2,953 ft)
    • Solution powered off: 5°C to 45°C (41°F to 113°F)
  • Maximum altitude: 3,050 m (10,000 ft)

  • Relative humidity (non-condensing):

    • Operating: 20% - 80%, maximum dew point: 21°C (70°F)
    • Solution powered off: 8% - 80%, maximum dew point: 27°C (81°F)
  • Particulate contamination:

    Attention
Airborne particulates and reactive gases acting alone or in combination with other environmental factors such as humidity or temperature might pose a risk to the solution. For information about the limits for particulates and gases, see Particulate contamination.
