Switch block

The following illustrates locations and functions of the switch block on the system board.

Important
  • Before you move any jumpers, turn off the server; then, disconnect all power cords and external cables. Do not open your server or attempt any repair before reading and understanding the following information:
  • If there is a clear protective sticker on the top of the switch blocks, you must remove and discard it to access the switches.
  • Any system-board switch or jumper block that is not shown in the illustrations in this document is reserved.

SW8-1ME firmware security override switch
  • OFF: The switch is in default setting.
  • ON: Enable Flash security override.
SW8-2Clear CMOS switch
  • OFF: The switch is in default setting.
  • ON: Clear the real-time clock (RTC) registry.
SW8-3Force XCC reset switch
  • OFF: The switch is in default setting.
  • ON: Force the Lenovo XClarity Controller to update to the latest version.
SW8-4Force XCC update switch
  • OFF: The switch is in default setting.
  • ON: Force XClarity Controller to boot from a backup image.
SW8-5XCC SPI0 half ROM switch
  • OFF: The switch is in default setting.
  • ON: Enable low security mode for XClarity Controller firmware (For development purpose only)
SW8-6Low security switch
  • OFF: The switch is in default setting.
  • ON: Enable low security mode for XClarity Controller firmware (For development purpose only).
SW8-7Reserved

This switch is reserved for development purpose only.

SW8-8Override power-on password switch
  • OFF: The switch is in default setting.
  • ON: Override the power-on password.
