Remove the top cover
Follow instructions in this section to remove the top cover.
Hazardous energy present. Voltages with hazardous energy might cause heating when shorted with metal, which might result in spattered metal, burns, or both.

Power off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords and all external cables. See Power off the server.
If the server is installed in a rack, slide the server out on its rack slide rails to gain access to the top cover, or remove the server from the rack. See Remove the server from rack.
Procedure
Press the release button on the top cover latch.
Rotate the latch until the latch is fully open and the top cover is disengaged from the chassis.
Lift up the top cover from the chassis, and place it on a flat clean surface.AttentionService label is located on the inside of the top cover.
For proper cooling and air flow, install the top cover before you power on the server. Operating the server with the top cover removed might damage server components.
