Install a hot-swap power supply unit

Follow instructions in this section to install a hot-swap power supply unit.

CAUTION

The power-control button on the device and the power switch on the power supply do not turn off the electrical current supplied to the device. The device also might have more than one power cord. To remove all electrical current from the device, ensure that all power cords are disconnected from the power source.

For -48V dc power supply, electrical current from power cords is hazardous.

To avoid a shock hazard:

• To connect or disconnect -48V dc power cords when you need to remove/replace install redundancy power supply unit(s).

To Connect:	To Disconnect:
Turn OFF subject dc power source(s) and equipment(s) that are attached to this product. Install the power supply unit(s) into the system housing. Attach dc power cord(s) to the product. Ensure correct polarity of -48 V dc connections: RTN is + and -48 V dc is -. Earth ground should be connected very well. Connect dc power cord(s) to subject power source(s). Turn ON all the power source(s).	Disconnect or turn off the subject dc power source(s) (at the breaker panel) before removing the power supply unit(s). Remove the subject dc cord(s) and make sure the wire terminal of power cord(s) is insulated. Unplug the subject power supply unit(s) from the system housing.

Never remove the cover on a power supply or any part that has this label attached. Hazardous voltage, current, and energy levels are present inside any component that has this label attached. There are no serviceable parts inside these components. If you suspect a problem with one of these parts, contact a service technician.

Following are the types of power supply units compatible to this server and notices to take during installation. These power supplies are designed for parallel operation. In the event of a power supply failure, the redundant power supply continues to power the system. The server supports a maximum of two power supply units with N+1 redundancy support.

• 750-watt Titanium, input power 230 Vac / 240 VDC
• 1100-watt Platinum, input power 115 Vac / 230 Vac / 240 VDC
• 1100-watt Titanium, input power 230 Vac / 240 VDC
• 1800-watt Platinum, input power 230 Vac / 240 VDC
• 1800-watt Titanium, input power 230 Vac / 240 VDC
• 2400-watt Platinum, input power 230 Vac / 240 VDC
• 2600-watt Titanium, input power 230 Vac / 240 VDC

CAUTION

• 240 V dc input (input range: 180-300 V dc) is supported in Chinese Mainland ONLY.

• Power supply with 240 V dc input cannot support hot-plugging power cord function. Before removing the power supply with dc input, please turn off server or disconnect dc power sources at the breaker panel or by turning off the power source. Then, remove the power cord.

Procedure

1. Make preparations for this task.
   1. Make sure the power supply unit to be installed is of the same wattage as the installed ones. Otherwise, complete the following steps:
      1. Turn off the server and peripheral devices.
      2. Disconnect the power cords and all external cables.
      3. Remove all the installed power supply units.
      4. Make sure all the power supply units to be installed are of the same wattage. Do not mix power supply units of different wattages in the same unit of server.
   2. If CMA has been installed, do the following:

      1. Press down the stop bracket and rotate it to the open position.
      2. Rotate the CMA out of the way to gain access to the power supply bay.

      Note

      Make sure the cables are secured to the CMA with cable straps.
   3. If you are installing the power supply into an empty bay, remove the power supply filler panel from the power supply bay.
   4. If more than one units are to be installed, start with the lowest available power supply bay.
2. Grasp the handle on the rear of the power supply, and slide it into the power-supply bay until it clicks into place.
