Remove an adapter

Use this procedure to remove an adapter.

Follow the following instructions accordingly to the location where the adapter has been installed.

Remove an adapter from the system board

Before removing an adapter from the system board:

  1. Read the safety information and installation guidelines (see Safety and Installation Guidelines).

  2. Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords and all external cables (see Power off the server).

  3. If the server is installed in a rack, slide the server out on its rack slide rails to gain access to the top cover, or remove the server from the rack.

  4. Remove the top cover (see Remove the top cover).

To remove an adapter from the system board, complete the following steps:

  1. Disconnect any cables (including external ones) from the adapter.
  2. Open the retention latch.
  3. Grasp the adapter by upper corners, and pull it from the system board.

Remove an adapter from the PCIe riser-card assembly

To remove an adapter from a PCIe riser-card assembly removed from the server, complete the following steps:

  1. Open the bracket on the PCIe riser-card assembly.
  2. Grasp the adapter by upper corners, and pull it from thePCIe riser-card assembly.
