Upgrading a chassis with one CMM
Use these instructions to upgrade a Flex System chassis that has one Flex System CMM, with a manual transfer of CMM configuration settings. You can upgrade the CMM while the chassis is powered on.
Note
- Throughout the following procedure, the
Flex System Chassis Management Module
is referred to as thelegacy CMM
and theLenovo Flex System Chassis Management Module 2
is referred to as theLenovo CMM 2.
- These instructions assume that the chassis is connected to power.
Before you upgrade the CMM, complete the following steps:
- Unmanage the chassis in Lenovo XClarity Administrator. For detailed instruction, see Unmanaging a chassis.
- Save the legacy CMM configuration file to a remote system (see Saving a CMM configuration for information).
- Stop all CMM local and remote sessions before you proceed, to avoid an unexpected termination of sessions.
- Remove any external devices that block access to the rear of the chassis.
- Mark and disconnect all cables from the CMM.
To upgrade a chassis with one legacy CMM to a chassis with one Lenovo CMM 2, using manual configuration transfer, complete the following steps:
After the CMM has been upgraded and verified as functioning, complete the following steps:
- Reconnect any cables to the CMM that were removed (see Cabling the CMM for instructions).
- Installed any external devices that were removed from the rear of the chassis to access the CMM.
- Manage the chassis in Lenovo XClarity Administrator. For detailed instruction, see Managing a chassis.
