Removing the rear bulkhead

Use these instructions to remove the rear bulkhead from the storage expansion node.

To remove the rear bulkhead, complete the following steps:

1. Remove the cover from the compute node in the storage expansion node assembly (see the compute node Installation and Service Guide for instructions).
2. If any I/O expansion adapters in the compute node are blocking access to the interposer connector, remove them (see the compute node Installation and Service Guide for instructions).
3. Disconnect the interposer cable from the interposer connector on the compute node system board.
4. On the underside of the expansion shelf, lift the raised edge of the retaining latch that secures the storage expansion node to the shelf while you slide the storage expansion node away from the center of the shelf, as shown in the following illustration.
   
   
   
5. Remove the cover from the storage expansion node (see Installing the cover on the storage expansion node for instructions).
6. Using a T8 Torx screwdriver, remove the five screws (one on each side and three on the bottom) that secure the bulkhead to the storage expansion node, as shown in the following illustration. Save the screws in a safe place. Use the same screws when you install the replacement bulkhead.
