Replaceable server components

The replaceable server components for NeXtScale n1200 Enclosure Types 5456.

Replaceable components consist of the following:
  • Structural parts: Purchase and replacement of structural parts (components, such as chassis assembly, top cover, and bezel) is your responsibility. If Lenovo acquires or installs a structural component at your request, you will be charged for the service. See Structural parts for the list of structural parts.
  • Tier 1 customer replaceable unit (CRU): Replacement of Tier 1 CRUs is your responsibility. If Lenovo installs a Tier 1 CRU at your request, you will be charged for the installation.
  • Tier 2 customer replaceable unit: You may install a Tier 2 CRU yourself or request Lenovo to install it, at no additional charge, under the type of warranty service that is designated for your server.
  • Field replaceable units (FRUs): Only Lenovo service technicians are authorized to install or replace FRUs.

For information about the terms of the warranty and getting service and assistance, see the Warranty Information document that comes with the server. For more information about getting service and assistance, see Getting help and technical assistance.

Note
Due to security concern, it is NOT allowed to update FPC (IBM version) to FPC 2 (Lenovo version). With a FPC (IBM version) installed, only do upgrade with IBM firmware or replacement with another unit of IBM FPC. With a FPC 2 (Lenovo version) installed, on the other hand, only do upgrade with Lenovo firmware or replacement with another unit of Lenovo FPC 2. Note that if IBM FPC is plugged in Lenovo chassis, there will be VPD issue (see N1200 fan power controller web shows wrong machine type VPD for more information).
