Disengage the PCIe expansion node from a compute node

Use this information to disengage the PCIe expansion node from a compute node before replacing components in the compute node underneath.

Before you disengage the PCIe expansion node from a compute node:
  1. Read the following section(s) to ensure that you work safely.
  2. If the compute-expansion node assembly is installed in the enclosure, remove it (see Remove the compute-expansion node assembly from the enclosure).

  3. Remove the rear cable cover (see Remove the rear cable cover).

Complete the following steps to disengage the PCIe expansion node from a compute node.
  1. If the front riser assembly is installed in the expansion node, disconnect the front riser auxiliary power cable from the expansion node.

  2. Disconnect the four PCIe cables.

    Note
Make sure all four PCIe cables are disconnected.
  3. Loosen the two captive screws near the front of the expansion node; then, slide the expansion node slightly backward to disengage it from the compute node.

  4. Pivot the disengaged expansion node with the bottom next to the compute node as illustrated.
