Install the CMOS battery (CR2032) into the SMM2
Use this information to install the CMOS battery (CR2032) into the System Management Module 2 (SMM2).
About this task
- S002CAUTIONThe power-control button on the device and the power switch on the power supply do not turn off the electrical current supplied to the device. The device also might have more than one power cord. To remove all electrical current from the device, ensure that all power cords are disconnected from the power source.
- S004CAUTION
When replacing the lithium battery, use only Lenovo specified part number or an equivalent type battery recommended by the manufacturer. If your system has a module containing a lithium battery, replace it only with the same module type made by the same manufacturer. The battery contains lithium and can explode if not properly used, handled, or disposed of.
Do not:- Throw or immerse into water
- Heat to more than 100°C (212°F)
- Repair or disassemble
Dispose of the battery as required by local ordinances or regulations.
- S005CAUTIONThe battery is a lithium ion battery. To avoid possible explosion, do not burn the battery. Exchange it only with the approved part. Recycle or discard the battery as instructed by local regulations.
Do not make CMOS battery in contact with any metal surface during the replacement. Any contact with a metal surface, such as the compute node and enclosure side, can cause damages to the battery.
When replacing the battery, you must replace it with another CMOS battery of the exact same type (CR2032) made by the same manufacturer.
After you replace the battery, you must reconfigure the solution and reset the system date and time.
Dispose of the battery as required by local ordinances or regulations.
Procedure
- Follow any special handling and installation instructions that come with the CMOS battery.
- Insert the new CMOS battery into the SMM2.
- Orient the battery so that the positive (+) side faces up and tilt the battery to insert it into the socket.
- Press the battery down into the socket until it clicks into place. Make sure that the battery clip holds the battery securely.
After you finish
- Reinstall the SMM2 (see Install the hot-swap SMM2).
- Connect all cables to the SMM2.
- Start the Setup Utility and reset the configuration.
Check the power LED on each node to make sure it changes from fast blink to slow blink to indicate the node is ready to be powered on.
