OSFP module and network board problems

Use this information to resolve problems that are related to the OSFP module and network board problems.

After initially receiving the hardware, or after a service action that requires removing the OSFP module cabling (e.g., system board replacement), the following symptoms may occur:

  • One or more of the InfiniBand (IB) interfaces may remain in the Polling state (observed via the ibstat command).

  • The port LEDs may also remain off.

  • Other non-connection issues

In these cases, check and reseat the two OSFP module cable labeled with a 45 degree label, which connects the OSFP module and the network board.

  • Be careful when removing these two cables as they are fragile and can often break when removed. The cable should be removed at a 45-degree angle with as little force as possible.

  • After removing the cable, inspect for any bent pins or dislodged pins on the cable side. The connector side of the ConnectX-7 board should also be inspected for any debree.

  • When reinstalling the cable, pay close attention to the latch mechanism. There are four latching features on each of the two cables, two latches per side. It can be difficult to tell whether the cable is fully latched, and additional pressure may be required to fully latch the connector.

  • After the cable has been reseated, verify the LED activity and port state through ibstat.
