Rear view

This section contains information about the LEDs and connectors on the rear of the server.

The following illustrations show the connectors and LEDs on the rear of the server.

Install the PCIe riser assembly:
  • PCIe slot 1: PCI Express 3.0 x8

  • PCIe slot 2: PCI Express 3.0 x8 (x16 mechanical connector with x8 signal)

3 Server power connector:

Connect the power cord to this connector.

4 USB 3.1 Gen1 connector:

Connect USB devices, such as USB mouse, keyboard, or other devices to these two USB 3.1 Gen1 connectors.

5 6 Ethernet connector 1 and 2:

Each Ethernet connector has two status LEDs to help you identify the Ethernet connectivity and activity.
  • Ethernet connector 2: connect server to the internet

  • Ethernet connector 1: connect server to the internet, or set server to access Lenovo XClarity Controller

If the LOM adapter is not installed, Ethernet connector 1 can be set as XClarity Controller Network connector. To set Ethernet connector 1 as XClarity Controller Network connector, start Setup Utility and select BMC Settings ➙ Network Settings ➙ Chapter 2.Server components15 Network Settings Network Interface Port : Shared. Then, click Shared NIC on and select Onboard Port 1.

7 VGA connector:

Connect a monitor to this connector.
Note
  • When the front VGA connector is in use, the rear VGA connector will be disabled.
  • The maximum video resolution is 1600x1200 at 75 Hz.

8 Serial connector:

Connect a 9-pin serial device to this connector. The serial port is shared with the Lenovo XClarity Controller. The Lenovo XClarity Controller can take control of the shared serial port to redirect serial traffic, using Serial over LAN (SOL).
