This section includes instructions for performing initial installation of optional hardware. Each component installation procedure references any tasks that need to be performed to gain access to the component being replaced. - Install the server in a rack
To install the server in a rack, follow the instructions that are provided in the Rail Installation Kit for the rails on which the server will be installed. - Cable the server
Attach all external cables to the server. Typically, you will need to connect the server to a power source, to the data network, and to storage. In addition, you will need to connect the server to the management network. - Turn on the server
After the server performs a short self-test (power status LED flashes quickly) when connected to input power, it enters a standby state (power status LED flashes once per second). - Validate server setup
After powering up the server, make sure that the LEDs are lit and that they are green. - Turn off the server
The server remains in a standby state when it is connected to a power source, allowing the Lenovo ThinkSystem System Manager to respond to remote power-on requests. To remove all power from the server (power status LED off), you must disconnect all power cables.
