Technical specifications

Summary of the technical specifications of server. Depending on the model, some features might not be available, or some specifications might not apply. The latest specifications information is always available at Lenovo Press website.

Processor
Supports AMD EPYC 9004 or 9005 series processors, with 5nm process technology.
  • Up to two processors with the new LGA 6096 (SP5) socket
  • Up to 96 Zen4 cores (192 threads), 128 Zen4c cores (256 threads), 128 Zen5 cores (256 threads), or 128 Zen5c cores (384 threads) per socket
  • Up to 4 xGMI3 links at up to 32 GT/s
  • Thermal Design Power (TDP): up to 400 watts

Memory

      Note
      To avoid performance degradation, change the related UEFI setting by following the instructions at https://datacentersupport.lenovo.com/solutions/tt3220 in the following scenarios:

      • upgrading 6400 MHz RDIMMs from other capacities to 256 GB

      • downgrading 6400 MHz RDIMMs from 256 GB to other capacities

      • replacing the firmware and RoT security module on a server equipped with 6400 MHz 3DS RDIMMs

  • Capacity:
    • Minimum: 16 GB (1 x 16 GB RDIMM)
    • Maximum: 6 TB (24 x 256 GB 3DS RDIMM)
  • Maximum speed:

    • 4800/5600 MHz RDIMMs: 4800 MT/s

    Note

    • Operating speed depends on processor model and UEFI settings.

    • Some 6400 MHz RDIMMs (see the table in the Memory options section in Product Guide) can operate at a maximum speed of 6400 MT/s provided that the latest system firmware is applied. All other 6400 MHz DIMMs operate at a maximum speed of 6000 MT/s.

ThinkSystem 2.5" U.2 CD8P NVMe SSDs are supported with ThinkSystem PCIe Gen5 NVMe Retimer Adapter. See Tech Tip TT3437 for details regarding the minimum firmware levels that are required.

Integrated functions and I/O connectors
  • Lenovo XClarity Controller (XCC), which provides service processor control and monitoring functions, video controller, and remote keyboard, video, mouse, and remote drive capabilities.

  • Front connectors:

    • One VGA connector (optional)

    • One USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5 Gbps) connector

    • One USB 2.0 connector with XCC system management function

    • One external diagnostics connector

    • One integrated diagnostics panel (optional)

  • Rear connectors:

Network

  • OCP module in the rear or front of the server, which provides two or four Ethernet connectors for network support

    Note
    If ThinkSystem Redundant System Management Port Adapter is installed on the server, it will not be displayed on the PCIe card list of system management software, such as XCC, LXPM, and so on.
System fan
  • Supported fan types:

    • Standard fan 6038 (single-rotor, 17000 RPM)

    • Performance fan 6056 (dual-rotor, 21000 RPM)

  • Fan redundancy: N+1 redundancy, one redundant fan rotor

    • One processor: five hot-swap system fans (one redundant fan rotor)

    • Two processors or one processor with middle/rear bay or Riser 3: six hot-swap system fans (one redundant fan rotor)

Note

  • Single-rotor hot-swap fans cannot be mixed with dual-rotor hot-swap fans.

  • The redundant cooling by the fans in the server enables continued operation if one rotor of a fan fails.

  • When the system is powered off but still plugged in to AC power, fans 1 and 2 may continue to spin at a much lower speed. This is the system design to provide proper cooling.

CAUTION

  • 240 V dc input (input range: 180-300 V dc) is supported in Chinese Mainland ONLY.

  • Power supply with 240 V dc input cannot support hot plugging power cord function. Before removing the power supply with dc input, please turn off server or disconnect dc power sources at the breaker panel or by turning off the power source. Then, remove the power cord.

Minimal configuration for debugging
  • One processor in socket 1
  • One memory module in slot 7
  • System board assembly (processor board + system I/O board)
  • Firmware and RoT security module (installed on the system I/O board)
  • One power supply unit
  • One HDD/SSD drive, one M.2 drive, or one 7mm drive (if OS is needed for debugging)
