Disassemble the system board for recycle

Follow the instructions in this section to disassemble the system board before recycling.

About this task

Before disassembling the system board:

  1. Remove the system board from the server. See Remove the system board.

  2. Refer to local environmental, waste or disposal regulations to ensure compliance.

Procedure

  1. Remove the following components as illustrated:

    • Two spacers (8 mm wrench)

    • Four guide pins (7 mm wrench)

    • One plunger (5/8” wrench for top side; 7/16” wrench for bottom side)

    • Two hex nuts (5 mm wrench)

    • One lifting handle (PH 2 screwdriver)

  2. Remove the following components as illustrated:

    • Ten screws (PH 2 screwdriver)

  3. Remove the following components as illustrated:

    • Four screws (PH 2 screwdriver)

  4. Separate the system board from the supporting sheet metal.

After you finish

After disassembling the system board, recycle the unit in compliance with local regulations.
